InstaCare is a concept redesign of Instagram that explores how the platform could prioritize mental health, authenticity, and meaningful human connections. The project expands beyond the app experience through branded campaigns, environmental graphics, merchandise, and interactive experiences that promote healthier digital engagement.

Instagram usage has such negative effects, for example, it can create addictive scrolling, social comparison, digital anxiety and mental fatigue among users who are trying to maintain an online presence. Users then tend to avoid social media use all together or give into current trends and start to present themselves in a way that is not truly how they are.
THE PROBLEM
OBJECTIVE
If users interact and engage on Instagram with a more mindful experience, such as using encouragement to share authentic realities and reducing social comparison, it would help users feel more connected, less lonely, it would also reduce the fear of missing out and reduce comparison anxiety which would all result in users improving their overall mental health and well-being.
the solution
InstaCare re-imagines Instagram to become more mentally approachable by decreasing the exposure to curated content, social comparison, digital anxiety, and emotional fatigue. InstaCare creates a softer presence through textured gradients and friendlier typefaces to ease the mind and promote real human connections.
InstaCare accomplishes these promises by using algorithms that feature mental health modes, AI warning labels, and content filtering. To bring the experience into the real, physical world, InstaCare offers offline events with exclusive products, where people can learn more about the harsh realities of being an in-demand influencer. Each element has their own unique qualities fit for their application, but are all still connected as a whole singular experience.
