get to know the artist
Hi there! My name is Alyssa Chavez, and I’m a graphic designer and artist currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. My graphic design work focuses on branding, editorial design, identity systems, and visual storytelling through print and digital media. I’ve always had a strong skillset for attention to detail and work super hard to make sure everything is perfectly complete before calling it done. I love taking on a design challenge and love seeing the process throughout the project. Nothing is more satisfying than comparing how the project started vs the end result and everything in between!
I fell in love with graphic design at a very young age, specifically in middle school. I remember it so vividly. I was in a computer class in my 7th grade, and that day we learned how to use Gimp, an off-brand version of Photoshop. That day we learned how to blend an image of a cheetah print onto grass, and when I found out how to do that my mind went spiraling on the endless possibilities I could create with this magical tool! Ever since then I was obsessed with photo manipulation and super interested in creating graphic elements. Sooner or later I found out that there was a whole field for this, called graphic design! I knew from that moment, I wanted to be a graphic designer.

where are you from?
I was born and raised in Bolivia, South America, but I’ve moved back and forth between the U.S. and Bolivia throughout my younger years. I also grew up in Florida, and would call it my home state. I’ve moved around a lot and lived in a bunch of different cities and states ever since, but I definitely call Florida and Bolivia my home ❤️.
I have a lot!
I loove playing video games, but as the older I get, the less time I have to game anymore 😢. If I could become a full-time video game streamer, I would! I also love learning languages like French, Italian, Portuguese, Latin, Chinese, and ASL. At the moment I’m currently learning Italian. I also have a huge appreciation for the film industry. I love watching movies, shows, and documentaries. As part of the film industry, I also act when I get the opportunity. Before my discovery of graphic design, I’ve had a strong passion for acting at an even earlier age. Other hobbies include: singing, reading, and playing instruments among other random ones!

What is one thing a lot of people don’t know about you?
I was in the U.S. Military for 5 years! I was an OS - Operations Specialist. Initially, I joined to become an MC - Mass Communication Specialist (closest job to graphic design), but I was only able to take OS as my position. I’ve worked several different jobs while I was in. I worked with the security force and the ship’s training department along with going back to my main OS job. I loved the experience and made amazing friends, but I definitely learned that the military life was not for me 😅. So here I am!
