This concept rebranding project for a local band, Boywifer, explores how a unified identity system can strengthen a band's visual presence without compromising its authenticity. Through direct collaboration with the band, a cohesive identity system was created spanning across branding, website design and digital media, promotional materials, and album design applications.

background
Boywifer is a small local Midwest Emo band native to Atlanta, GA.The band consists of five members: Gwen Diamond, Devin Kelsey, Elliot Kelsey, Grant Hamilton, and Jimmy Huang. They have played in small rock venues throughout Atlanta and have a small, growing fanbase.
objective
To help unify the band’s style and brand identity, we wanted re-design their current logo, create a identity system that is seamless and recognizable across multiple platforms, and create other promotional materials to use for shows and album promotions.
the problem
Their current branding is similar to a very DIY, webcore and personable style, but it’s also very unfiltered and without polish. Although this captures the authentic personality of the band and it builds a level of closeness and relatability with the audience, their brand identity could really use some artistic direction.
As a team, and with direct communication with the band, we decided to re-brand their identity, as a concept design project. We did so in a way that didn’t lose their original style’s inspiration and as a result we created promotional materials, a website and social media graphics. In addition to these concept deliverables, and as per requested by the band, we also came up with and designed a printed LP vinyl album cover for their first unreleased album, which had its own separate identity system.
